On Monday, August, 30th, we were honored with the presence of Rabbi Amram Anidjar who guided us during Selijot. After the ceremony, Rabbi Anidjar joined students to discuss the coming holy days and answer questions. Elementary and preschool students heard the sounding of the shofar, which sets the stage for our revision of the past and the coming of the New Year.
Our student minian initiated Selijot prayers on Wednesday. Fathers accompanied their sons in this meaningful time for our community.

On Thursday, August 31st, high school students attended a very in-depth conference on the Big Bang, delivered by Dr. Giora Mikenberg, brought to us by the Weizmann Institute. Events such as this one continue to enrich our school program and strengthen bonds between Israel and our community.

On Wednesday, September 1st, 7th graders and their parents attended their first Shorashim meeting. A video presentation served as introduction to the explanation of the Shorashim project delivered by our middle school Judaic coordinator, Ms. Debbie Lang. Our participation in this international project requires a great deal of effort from all participants but the skills developed along the way, the histories that are retrieved and the collaboration among family members are definitely worthwhile.

Eleventh and twelfth grade high school families and staff met to share information about the coming academic year and simply ‘get acquainted with each other’ in a more informal setting. The evening went well and set the collaborative tone for the academic challenges ahead.
