The academic program in High School is designed for students to successfully complete the IB Diploma Program. This program is an academically challenging and balanced program of education that prepares students for life in the 21st century, in an interconnected, globalized world that requires critical thinking skills and a sense of international-mindedness. The program has gained recognition and respect from leading universities in Mexico and worldwide.
In order to ensure breadth of experience, our students study courses in 5 areas: mathematics, (Algebra, Geometry, Calculus and Statistics) experimental sciences (Chemistry, Biology and Physics), languages (Spanish and English), social studies (History and Business & Management) and Judaic studies (Jewish History, Hebrew and Bible).
In addition the program has three core requirements that are included to broaden the educational experience and challenge students to apply their knowledge and understanding. The extended essay is a requirement for students to engage in independent research through an in-depth study of a question relating to one of the subjects they are studying. Theory of knowledge is a course designed to encourage each student to reflect on the nature of knowledge by critically examining different ways of knowing (perception, emotion, language and reason) and different kinds of knowledge (scientific, artistic, mathematical and historical). Creativity, action, service requires that students actively learn from the experience of doing real tasks beyond the classroom. Students can combine all three components or do activities related to each one of them separately.
To further support and strengthen our students’ preparation for university studies and life beyond, the High School provides wide ranging extra-curricular programs, including soccer, basketball and softball teams, an international Model United Nations program, Entrepreneurship, Robotics, Dance, and an Arts Seminar. A thorough 3-year college counseling program, which includes tests of aptitude and ability, college visits and appointments, a pre-professional internship program and on site college admission exams, accompanies students all the way up to university admission. Finally, a lively Student Council encourages proactive student participation in school affairs.
Judaic StudiesThe objective of this program is to broaden the knowledge of the Jewish culture in general so that students can recognize and adopt the necessary elements to create their own identity as members of their community and their people and assume responsibility and commitment as a Jew, as a Mexican citizen and as an inhabitant of the world.
