In Preschool we focus on the holistic formation of students, constantly engaging in reflection and shared decision-making. We believe that every child has the preparation, potential, curiosity and interest necessary to build his/her own knowledge.
Our educational project situates each child in relation to his/her family, other children, teachers, the school environment, the community and society in general, rather than as an isolate. Our objective is to guarantee the growth and well-being of every student.
English is one of the pillars of the educational program, allowing children to acquire a second language as they learn the language itself, about the language and through the language. At the same time, the children’s Jewish-Mexican identity is strengthened as school activities instill love and respect for traditions while stressing values based on respect and empathy.
The school provides a safe, warm physical environment which promotes learning. The program includes activities that encourage decision making, problem solving and discovery, using cutting edge educational technology as a tool and medium through which children prepare for further studies and life outside the institution.
The pace at which each child works and progresses is taken into account in the planning of activities and projects. Differentiated teaching/learning is only one of the areas that are part of our teachers’ continuing education. Planning, observation, and ongoing assessment are carried out to follow each student. Every classroom has two adults, offering more individualized attention.
Achievement of the goals of the IB learning community profile is guided by these 5 basic elements: knowledge, concepts, abilities, attitudes and actions. Reaching these outcomes prepares students for the future, developing competencies, also found in the SEP program. The 6 IB inquiry units cover personal and social development, language and communication, arithmetic understanding, exploration and knowledge of the world, expression and artistic appreciation, physical development and health.Registering and documenting these learning experiences allows us to evaluate and share the students’ growth. During the process, the children become the protagonists of their own learning.
Program Elements
The educational program aims to teach children to apply acquired knowledge to new situations via a process of reflection, decision making and finally, action. These abilities are necessary tools for the world they will be living in. The concept of competencies refers to this ability to transfer learning, engage in actions and relate to others.
The Atid School provides a learning community, not only for the children, but also for staff so as to allow teachers to constantly improve their crafts in the framework of recent developments in psychology and pedagogy.
Pedagogic methodology follows an active, personal, practical, significant and collaborative approach, with inquiry as the key medium of learning within a constructivist framework. It is understood that knowledge is a personal construction carried out by each human being.
Judaic Studies
Early contact with the Judaic culture allows us toreinforce students’ knowledge of the history of the Jewish people, customs and traditions and their bond with the State of Israel, strengthening their identity and therefore, motivating active participation in events and festivities.
Tradition classes within the curriculum in each grade strengthen the establishment of relationships between the present and the past of the their own families and/or communities through objects, day to day situations and cultural practices, as well as the learning of Hebrew as a language of identity with the Jewish people.
The program for the teaching of Hebrew mimics the natural processes that characterize the development of language in early infancy and takes into account the cognitive, emotional and behavioral development of the children in this stage. Its purpose is to allow children to communicate in this language.
